BOYS WIN – GIRLS TAKE 2nd!
Croswell – Port Huron Northern’s boys cross country team didn’t waste any time in announcing itself as a major player in the area. The Huskies were dominant Thursday, taking the top two spots and placing five runners in the top eight to win the Mike Jackson Memorial Cross Country Invitational. They finished with 23 points – tying a school record – 26 points ahead of 2nd place Crow-Lex.
“I think we did really well,” said Northern senior Tyler DeLange, who won the race with a time of 16 minutes, 43 seconds. “Matt (Thomas, who was second in 16:49) and I kind of ran together the whole race. That was kind of our plan to run together and run strong.”
The Northern girls also had a strong showing, finishing second to Caro in a tight race. Caro finished with 44, just two points ahead of the Huskies. Hannah Jones of Northern was the winner of the girl’ racewith a time of 20:08.
