City rivals get to vote for top teams
PHN and PH up in weekly contest
Times Herald, September 23, 2013
It’s game week for the biggest rivalry in the Blue Water Area, as Port Huron Northern and Port Huron High will meet Friday at Memorial Stadium.
It’s also time for fans from those two schools to start voting for what they think was the best team to ever wear their jerseys. Week 5 of our ultimate football team bracket nominations will be for the city rivals.
Voting begins right now and will continue through Friday. There are three ways to vote, and that’s by emailing me at email@example.com, faxing the Times Herald at (810) 989-6294 or sending us the shortest letter you’ve ever written to 911 Military St.; Port Huron, MI 48060. Anything sent through the post office will have to be postmarked by Friday, while emails and faxes must be received by Friday.
All we need for your vote is the school and the year. So it’s as simple as “19xx Port Huron High” to have your vote counted.
You don’t need to be a fan to vote for them, we’ll accept votes from anyone. So if you have a nominee from each of these schools, fire away. You can only vote once per school, however.
You’re also identifying the schools by the year they actually played. If the team was from the 1997-98 school year, it’s the 1997 team, because that’s when the season was.
The team with the most votes from each school will be entered in our playoff bracket, which will begin in Week 1 of the prep football playoffs and end the week of the state finals.
